Finance Minister of Azerbaijan Holds Meetings in Washington, D.C.

Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov held meetings at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund offices recently in Washington, D.C.

Sharifov discussed the socio-political development in Azerbaijan with Philippe Le Houerou, World Bank Vice-President for Europe and the Central Asia region, according to the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan.

They also discussed Azerbaijan's continuing economic growth and diversification, projects in Azerbaijan financed by the World Bank, and different areas in the country's new economic development strategy.

In a meeting with Asad Alam, the World Bank's Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Minister Sharifov discussed the implementation of projects in Azerbaijan funded by the bank.

Minister Sharifov also held individual meetings with Nemat Shafik, the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, and Masood Ahmed, the Director of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department.
