Azerbaijan to Launch Three Satellites in Next Four Years

According to the Minister of Communication and Information Technologies, Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan plans to launch three satellites in the next few years.

The first satellite, carrying telecommunications equipment, is expected to be launched in 2013 and has been insured to the full extent by a US company for $17 million.

A second satellite built for earth observation will be launched in 2014. A third satellite carrying additional telecommunications equipment will be launched in 2016. A satellite management center will be in operation at the end of the year.
