USACC trade mission delegation, led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of U.S. Department of Commerce Michael Lally and USACC Co-Chairmen Reza Vaziri and Bill Delahunt met with Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev last week as part of U.S. Trade Mission to Azerbaijan.

Minister Mustafayev opened the meeting by congratulating USACC on its 20th anniversary and expressed his appreciation of the activities that the organization carried out in the past two decades to improve bilateral relations. Minister also expressed his satisfaction with the fact that 15 American companies joined the trade mission. He added that U.S. is the second largest investor into Azerbaijani economy (in mostly oil and gas field) and expressed his hope for the diversification of these investments into non-oil sphere.

Deputy Chief of Mission of U.S. Embassy Dereck Hogan described the trade mission as very timely as it coincided with USACC's 20th anniversary and was taking place during Azerbaijan's concerted effort and approach towards private sector growth.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of U.S. Department of Commerce Michael Lally expressed his appreciation to the Minister for support with the trade mission. He added that 15 companies that joined the mission were, in fact, representing non-oil industry. DAS Lally also added that over hundred one-on-one meetings took place as part of the mission.

The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of USACC Certificate of Appreciation to Minister Shahin Mustafayev from USACC Co-Chairmen for his generous support, commitment and lasting friendship to organization.
